The lighthouse in the harbor of Ile-Rousse stands on a rocky island that has a light orange-coloured appearance from the distance. The rock is a fairly coarse-grained leucogranite that was dated to 287 Ma. It is crosscut by several sets of fractures and contains some small magmatic enclaves of monzogranite.
