The old quarry near Fontana Porraghia spring is located close to the small road that leads from Saint-Florent to Santo-Pietro-di-Tenda, ca. 2 km south of S2-4. The outcrop shows the same gneisses as we observed at locality S2-3, but here the structures within the shear zones are seen more clearly. In addition to quartz and feldspar, the rock contains large crystals of blue amphibole. These minerals define a nice fabric with schistosity (S), shear planes (C) and shear bands (C’), abbreviated as S-C-C’-fabric. We measured the orientation of the shear planes, shear bands and the stretching lineation. The measurements indicate a top-to-the-west shear sense during high-pressure conditions, which is in line with eastward subduction.
